Sat 16th February – Emotional Processing Workshop

This workshop is an opportunity to dive into deeper emotional work. We will engage with specific themes brought by the participants, such as unresolved dilemmas, past hurts, fears about the future and relationship struggles. This work involves compassionately and constructively engaging with inner challenges and difficult emotions in order to gain emotional and intellectual clarity, to process life experiences and where possible to create an experiential resolution.

This 5-hour guided workshop is for people who seek to engage in deeper emotional processing. Participants are encouraged to either bring a question or inner dilemma to work on, or to come with an open mind and see what emerges on the day. Depending on the size of the group we may or may not be able to work with what everyone brings, but being part of the group experience will nonetheless be enriching for every participant because the themes in different people’s lives often have a lot in common. There will be multiple breaks throughout the afternoon and a cup of tea served at the end to gently ease into the evening.

Please note that strong emotions may surface as a result of engaging in emotional processing work and sometimes emotions may continue to surface beyond the duration of the workshop. There are two important recommendations: 1. Leave Saturday evening and a good part of Sunday set aside for rest, processing and relaxation. 2. Make sure that you have either an understanding spouse, close friend who can listen, good therapist or a supportive community for ongoing support – to support you with anything that may surface after you leave the supportive environment of the workshop.

You can read participant feedback from the previous workshops by looking at the comments section of previous events.

Time: 1pm to 6pm on Saturday 16th of February.

Suggested koha: $40 standard / $20 low income / $10 financially struggling. Koha is a Maori custom of making a voluntary gift to the hosts of the gathering in accordance with the guest’s means. Koha is not a fee and therefore not a requirement and nobody is excluded for financial reasons.

What to bring: just yourself and an open mind. Wear layered clothing comfortable for sitting and movement. Pen and paper is ok if you feel like writing during the breaks. No electronic devices, cellphones and smartwatches must be left in your car. There will be filtered water and cups + some healthy vegan snacks will be provided during the breaks to keep your energy up (check with us if you have additional dietary requirements).

Advance registration is required and the workshop is limited to 6 participants. Please read through the venue information and house rules of Laingholm 11 and then fill out the form below to book your place in the workshop.

  1. I found this to be another fascinating and engaging workshop at Laingholm 11. The day whizzed by as we delved into some pretty deep stuff. I gained a lot from what others brought along and were corageous enough to share, and this is a great thing about this style of workshop – you can gain just as much valuable insight through somebody else’s scene as your own. Valera, thank you once again for your guidance, it really was fantastic! And thank you for creating such a safe and trusting space for this sort of work to happen. I’d really recommend these emotional processing workshops to anybody wanting to understand themself better, and who is open to and curious about an interesting and different way of doing so. I look forward to seeing what happens next time!

  3. The workshop process of going through previous inner conflicts was very healing for me. Valera is an excellent guide and facilitator, and the other participants helped to make a very safe and comfortable environment.

  4. I really enjoyed this workshop, it was a small group and we were able to share and be open and I felt we really connected and supported each other.

Valera facilitated the session expertly (as usual) and I was able to gain some perspective changing insights that help me relate to others and my past differently. I also learnt from other participant’s experiences.

It takes courage to do the work in order to gain benefit and I acknowledge everyone for that, I found it was well worth it.
